Baranska launches a product platform of unique glass creations

During the period 1300-1400, glass workers in Venice first began to create glass pieces using metal oxides and fused glass methods. The technique (then as now) involves high temperature kilning processes to shape, fuse and colour glass. The original concept hasn’t really changed over the years but with the advent of modern kiln technology we can now control and manipulate glass (with much greater accuracy) to create amazing designs with countless uses.

Baranska Design is a European leader in the production of fusing glass on a commercial scale, and by combining their considerable expertise and modern technical processes they can create anything from simple delicate glass pieces to large public area lighting, artwork and even large ornamental water features.

Baranska Design are well known for creating exclusive glass pieces and collaborate often with interiors designers, architects and furniture manufacturers worldwide. With their knowledge of manipulating glass through heat, Baranska has launched a product platform of unique glass creations that are both functional and practical.

This original collection of furniture and accessories led products, is aimed squarely at the furniture and home sector. The family, consists of coffee and occasional tables, wall art, mirrors, bowls and lighting and comes (as you would expect) with matching colourways and features. However, due to the variety of colours and finishes in the range we feel sure the temptation to experiment with different combinations will be hard to resist.

Understanding how glass reacts under varying temperatures was key to composing the collection, so too was recognising how textures, finishes and metal oxides would react and further enhance and shape the final designs. By adding metal oxides to create polychromatic effects and bubbles within the glass we see these creations come to life. The vibrant, intense colours in Big Blue (for instance) have an energy and feeling that express a real depth and meaning to the design, something more akin to a work of art. The heat processes involved in adding the oxides colours ensures the colours stay strong and vivid in the glass, the process is so good the manufacturer provides a 20year fade free guarantee.

By further fusing multiple layers of glass creates wonderful 3D effects that accentuate any texture or impression placed into the lower layer of glass, as can be seen in Gold River, which is also a new design from their collection and (as mentioned) the metal oxide also forms irregular sized bubbles in the glass, that randomly appear throughout to remarkable effect. A further consequence of this randomness is that each piece created by Baranska is completely unique.

The availability of an extensive colour palette covering everything from natural, earthy, dark hues to the more vivid and dramatic tones associated with modern design, means Baranska can provide colours that complement any scheme.

As a European manufacturer, Baranska can provide a quick turnaround for orders and also produce single, custom designs as required. These are just some of the benefits of working with a European producer.
