Lyndon Design helps transform Royal College of Psychiatrists HQ

Lyndon Design has played a key role in helping renovate the Grade II listed headquarters of The Royal College of Psychiatrists located in central London. Having undergone a radical transformation into a striking, design-led, state-of-the-art destination for members and staff, the College now boasts an array of handcrafted seating solutions from the leading upholstery manufacturer.

Specified by London-based Sketch Studios Ltd, the contemporary and stylish member’s lounge of the College, that takes in meeting rooms, workstations, a council room and the College’s heritage of fine art, now plays host to several of Lyndon Design’s best-selling furniture products. These include the Orten and Callisto seating collections, together with the Metro occasional table.

Taking centre stage within the lounge are large Orten sofas that feature luxurious leather upholstery with classic and elegant leg detail, together with a stylish and contemporary H shaped oak frame. They provide the perfect complement to an arrangement of Callisto armchairs which combine a crisp and contemporary feel with overriding comfort. Completing the lounge are cube-style Metro tables in various sizes and that boast a show-wood finish and glass-top. All products serve to reflect the bright, open plan workspaces of The College.

Justin Bass, Managing Director at Sketch Studios Ltd comments: “Lyndon Design was the perfect choice for gracing the interiors of The College, and for helping create a stunning working environment for its members and staff. Whilst the classic aesthetic elements of their products embrace the heritage of The College, their bold designs and stylish elements serve to provide a modern and functional environment.”

Skilfully tailored to meet with the College’s 50,000 sq. ft. ergonomic and spatial requirements, the chosen furniture exemplifies why Lyndon Design continues to be the favourite of architects and specifiers worldwide across hospitality and corporate arenas.

The Royal College of Psychiatrists is an independent professional membership organisation that represents over 15,000 psychiatrists in the UK and Internationally. Responsible for supporting psychiatrists throughout their careers, the College’s role is to set standards and promote excellence in psychiatry and mental healthcare, and work with patients, carers and other organisations interested in delivering high quality mental health services.
