With comfort and wellbeing the mantra for today’s interior design schemes, hoteliers, business owners and restaurateurs all strive for the ‘ultimate design’. Within workplaces, restaurants and hotels, comfort should be at the forefront of the design to help entice and retain guests and employees.

Wallcoverings, accessories and decoration all take a front seat in the design of these spaces, but often disregarded is the furniture. Beside aesthetics, it’s been established that high-quality seating improves posture and boosts productivity within the workplace, however the organisation of these seating arrangements appear to require a revision. With the dated panorama of rows of desks, chairs and meeting rooms fading fast, businesses need to revisit their arrangements and introduce ‘workplace culture’ into their schemes. The same concept applies to restaurants and hotels. Whilst maximising space may be at the top of every hotelier and restaurateurs’ wish list, comfort and practicality should take precedence to create popular spaces that visitors want to frequent time and time again. There’s a wealth of seating designs available for schemes today to suit every need and budget, for inspiration turn to page 34. For further inspiration, the much-awaited Sleep event returns this November, offering thought-provoking conference sessions and inspiration for hoteliers and interior designers.
