A bold statement

Rainlight, an international award-winning design studio, is delighted to introduce Nagare, a new collection of furniture designed in collaboration with leading Japanese office furniture manufacturer Okamura.

The collection was debuted at NeoCon 2019 to glowing reviews, as well as winning the HiP award in Workplace: Sofa category.

Nagare, which means ‘flow’ in Japanese, responds to the way we work today. The range of seating and tables, inspired by nature, brings a gentle sense of movement and creates a quiet haven in the workplace.

The collection consists of two distinct families – Lounge and Platform – with each element possessing a sculptural quality that makes a bold aesthetic statement, while also being highly functional. The pieces have been carefully designed to help people work more effectively whenever and wherever work might happen.

Lounge is intended as a statement piece and takes its cue from rock formations, almost looking as though it might have been hewn from the earth. This visually bold sofa features a power socket and USB ports and is ideal for reception spaces and client lounge areas, where visitors can plug in and recharge with ease.

Meanwhile Platform has a lighter, more ethereal aesthetic that allows users to perch on its horizontal plane and perform any number of tasks. It is designed to facilitate informal ways of working in the shared areas of the office – such as active receptions and touch down points, break-out spaces, cafes and co-working environments – to support creative thinking. Available with or without a back, it encourages collaborative activities and impromptu meetings, as well as allowing solo workers the opportunity to spread out and have space to think.

Yorgo Lykouria, Creative Director at Rainlight, says: “The idea behind Nagare is to create pieces of furniture and accessories that cater for two key requirements – to provide the opportunity for mindfulness and introspection but also to allow meetings to take place spontaneously. The composition appeals to the heart and mind as we blur and merge the boundaries between work and life. I believe its sculptural quality will make a real statement in any environment.”

Okamura’s engineering capabilities, attention to detail and desire to achieve Rainlight’s original product concept has enabled Nagare to come to life.

Nagare is available with a number of accessories, including an ottoman, occasional table, personal table, and cushions. It also comes in a huge variety of upholstery finishes.
