A nod to the Rat Pack era

Martyn Lawrence Bullard, renowned for his broad range of styles and eclectic, yet sophisticated and inviting interiors, has designed the Sands Hotel & Spa in Indian Wells.

The hotel, originally a late 1950s era property in the heart of Indian Wells, has been completely reimagined in collaboration with the boutique hotel group PRG Hospitality Group. The Sands Hotel & Spa has undergone a total redesign, with new building additions, and substantial interior and exterior renovations. Bullard formerly partnered with the group on the Colony Palms Hotel in Palm Springs and Casa Laguna Hotel and Spa in Laguna Beach.

The Sands Hotel & Spa features 46 guest rooms, including two suites and one bi-level Presidential Suite, all-new public spaces, pool deck and landscaping, a private wedding garden, a signature on-property restaurant and a luxury spa.

    Design

The hotel’s new design reflects Bullard’s Moroccan-inspired influence, with the mid-century aesthetic complementing perfectly with the desert’s everlasting allure. A rich, emerald green palette with deep blue tones accent the desert’s rose-pink backdrop on the reimagined exterior. The black, white and glass details set the design by bringing both mid-century and contemporary, modern-day style to life. Nods from the “Rat Pack” era are found throughout the property’s design with hints of glamour, luxury and decadence reinvented for the new generation. The rooms are appointed with Acqua di Parma bath essentials, Revival New York bed linens, signature Sonifi entertainment systems and full-sized in-room mini bars with top-of-the-line barware and stemware. Many of the rooms feature lush, palm tree lined views and private patios.

    Restaurant

Guests and locals can enjoy the hotel’s all-new destination restaurant, The Pink Cabana, led by Executive Chef Jason Niederkorn. The menu is inspired by seasonal ingredients harmonised with Moroccan and Mediterranean influence and prepared by modern French technique. The menu includes shareable dishes, local fresh produce, sustainable dayboat seafood, and the finest poultry and meats. While poolside, hotel guests can enjoy craveable snacks and heavenly sandwiches. Thoughtfully created craft cocktails and wine selections are designed to enhance guest experience and food.

Niederkorn mastered his culinary talent at San Francisco’s Culinary Academy. He is best known for his award-winning work at the Hotel Jerome Auberge in Aspen, Newport Beach’s Aubergine and the Michelin-starred Magazin in Salzburg, Austria. Recently, his position as Executive Chef at Palm Springs’ SOPA Restaurant won him several accolades from Forbes and Condé Nast Traveler and many more.

    Spa

The hotel’s signature spa features three treatment rooms, including a couples treatment room, and a menu of Moroccan-inspired services, featuring naturally-sourced ingredients from Morocco that detoxify, hydrate and replenish the skin and body. The spa’s entrance welcomes guests with a serene, olive tree-lined garden walkway and relaxation area to promote vibrance, health and true inner beauty.

    Location

The newly reconstructed Sands Hotel & Spa is the first boutique hotel property in Indian Wells. The Sands Hotel & Spa offers a new experience to desert visitors, adding a unique, boutique vision combined with a contemporary new addition to the greater Palm Springs landscape. The location makes it a premier destination for visitors and locals. Indian Wells has been home to several old Hollywood celebrities, political leaders and athletes through the years.
