Retro-inspired lighting adorn the ceilings of boutique hotel

Hotel Vincci Centrum in Madrid is a contemporary boutique four-star hotel placed in an historical building. Modern, functional and in an outstanding location, the hotel provides its guests with a welcoming and comfortable aesthetic.

Hotel Vincci Centrum is an eight-storey hotel, housing 87 rooms, placed in a historical building dating back to 1920 and is protected as a National Heritage site. The hotel has recently been completely renovated, with its inspiration owed to the glamour of the 1950s with natural elements from Scandinavian design used throughout the hotel’s newly-refurbished design.

Located in the centre of Madrid, Gran Via, the ornate, upscale shopping street in Madrid, the hotel finds itself in the cultural triangle formed by the Prado, Thyssen and Reina Sofia museums.

Interior Designer Beatriz Silveira is responsible for the redesign of the newly-refurnished Hotel Vincci Centrum. Beatriz Silveira was inspired by the glamour found throughout the years in the 1950s and today’s sought-after Scandinavian design.

The white and neutral colours, evident from Beatriz’s Scandinavian inspiration, invade the walls, floors and lounge ceiling, as well as all of the public areas, of the hotel, bringing a greater sense of space to the redesigned hotel.

Beatriz used noble materials, such as aristea marble, to evoke a luxurious and sophisticated atmosphere within Hotel Vincci Centrum, alongside natural oak to contrast with the bronze work found throughout her scheme.

Beatriz Silveira wanted to give her own personality to this four-star hotel, part of the Vincci Hotels chain, by using materials and brands that combined design, quality and originality. For this project, Beatriz was looking for an equilibrated contrast and harmony between colours, materials and patterns. The choice fell over those that would enhance the light of the space, create warmth and a sense of cosiness for Hotel Vincci Centrum’s guests.

Beatriz has confessed to have some favourite statement pieces that she included for Hotel Vincci Centrum’s project, such as the impressive wine cellar that gains prominence and was designed on a bespoke basis by Beatriz for Hotel Vincci Centrum. The Beetle chairs and stools by Gubi, she believes, are a perfect mix between Italian and Danish design in laminated moulded veneer which Beatriz used in Hotel Vincci Centrum’s Bellini food&bar.

To accompany these Italain/Danish designs in Hotel Vincci Centrum’s Bellini food&bar, Beatriz specified lighting supplier DelightFULL’s Hanna Suspension Lamps to hang above diners’ tables. Fitting in with Beatriz’s 1950s inspiration, these vintage, retro suspension fixtures elegantly hang above diners providing multiple statement pieces to the Bellini food&bar eatery, while illuminating a classical ambiance. Each Hanna Suspension Lamp is composed by five black and cooper lampshade clusters, made in aluminium and brass by DelightFULL’s artisans who each apply delicately an ancient technique named hand metal spinning to produce these exquisite designs.

DelightFULL’s Hanna Suspension Lamps complement another bespoke design Beatriz created for Hotel Vincci Centrum’s project, Beatriz’s Lámpara Turquesa – The Turquoise Crystal Chandelier. Commenting on her project for Hotel Vincci Centrum, Beatriz said: “Aesthetics and functionality are not incompatible, a space can transmit strength and personality while providing harmony and warmth. The key is balance and the selection of each piece.”
